Going into our third year, we have spent $2000+ on materials ranging from PVC to wood to carbon fiber, as well as a wide assortment of electronics. We’ve paid it through $1000 from prize money, $550 from sponsorships, and the rest from our own pockets. For our hybrid airship alone, we are looking at least at $500 for the new hardware and software components. Sponsorship would greatly ease the burden of covering costs for our team.
In exchange for sponsorship, the Funky Shiitake Mushrooms provide companies with advertising opportunities. We have been on KGO and KCBS radio segments, featured in promotional reels, interviewed by Xeni Jardin and the Boing Boing team, and called “crowd-pleasers” by Bill Fisher, the Tech Challenge program coordinator. We have also been featured on Boing Boing (one of the top 10 blogs on the Internet), Hackaday, and DIYDrones.
We offer to print our sponsors’ logos on our team shirts, which we wear during competition, our banners, carts, and/or website.
Additionally, we enjoy giving presentations to the community and talking about our latest device. Please refer to our ‘Community Outreach’ page at the panel at the left. For more information, please refer to our cover letter and brochure attached at the bottom of the page.
We welcome donations of any size, both financial and in-kind. Thank you for your support!
Note: We’re currently working on the PayPal Donation button.
